Road Transport Industry: Flexible carbon fiber design and manufacturing

University of Stuttgart, Institute of Aircraft Design uses the adaptive mould technology from Adapa A/S, to develop carbon fiber structures and automated robotic manufacture processes to the Road Transport Industry..

The Institute of Aircraft Design has chosen the adaptive mould from Adapa to develop an aero dynamic fairing for small road transport vehicles, where reconfigurable tooling and collaborating robotic systems, are to manufacture based on 3D design files.

The development is in cooperation with one of the leading manufactures of small transport vehicles and aimed at reducing CO2 gas emissions on their vehicles, where the reconfigurable adaptive mould technology will be used to reduce cost of manufacturing unique designs to the specific vehicle types.

The distinct knowledge and demand from University of Stuttgart is, that they search for materials and manufacture technologies that interact with predesigned production processes and yet still allows for flexibility in product design, while reduction in Co2 footprint is a must.

Adapa A/S is proud to support the effort in reducing CO2 emissions.
